  • The treatment area needs to be shaved to skin level and it is recommended that you shave the day of service.

  • Avoid waxing, plucking, threading or electrolysis of the hair for 3-4 weeks prior to treatment. Hair needs to be at skin level in order for the laser to effectively destroy the hair follicle.

  • Avoid sun exposure 7 days prior to and after the treatment.

  • Be sure the area to be treated has no makeup, oils, deodorant, creams, topical medications etc. Squeaky Clean Please!

  • Be certain that you are not on medications that cause photosensitivity or on acne medications such as Accutane, Retin-A, Gold Therapy, Antibiotics etc, at present or within the past 6 months. These medications, and several others, may make your skin susceptible to damage from the laser. Please inform your technician of any current and/or new medication.

  • Laser hair removal is not recommended if you are pregnant. For Breastfeeding Moms Underarms treatments are not recommended.

  • Avoid bathing or washing with very hot water – use cool or room temperature water. Wash gently and do not be abrasive with the treated area. Keep the area clean.

  • For 24 hours avoid activities that may cause the treated areas to become warm, for example, exercising.

  • Avoid any irritating soaps, scrubs, medications or chemicals. Examples of these are Retin-A, Benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid or astringents.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least one-to-two weeks after treatment to prevent skin from developing hyper-pigmentation /hypo-pigmentation marks.

  • Protect the area with a sunblock of higher than 50 SPF. Make sure to re-apply sunblock throughout the day.

  • The treated area may become red, inflamed, or even blistered within 30 minutes and, in rare instances, last several hours to several days. Swelling (edema) and itching may also occur. Regular application of ice, cooling gels, Aquaphor, Hydrocortisone or Antibiotic Ointment can be applied for relief.

  • Hair will start to shed at around two-to-three weeks post treatment. NO tweezing, plucking, threading, or waxing over the treatment area during the course of treatments. However, you may shave any hairs that re-grow.

  • Generally it is best to wait four-to-six weeks between treatments. There is no advantage to scheduling your visits closer together even if you do not see immediate results. The laser only targets hair in the growth phase. The next growth phase is generally in four-to-six weeks.

  • How the area looks right after the treatment varies from person to person. You may have some redness and swelling around the hair follicles straight after. In the following weeks you will notice less hair growth as you progress through the course of your treatments.

FAQs

how does laser work?

Laser Hair Removal uses laser light energy. The laser emits energy, the melanin in the hair absorbs this energy and converts it into heat which then destroys the hair follicles to prevent or stop future growth.

how many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on your hair’s growth cycle. There are many factors that influence this cycle (age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication, and metabolism). Unfortunately, an exact number of treatments can not be given. We do recommend a minimum of 6 treatments to see the best results.

How much does Laser cost?

Please see the Pricing tab above

are laser hair removal results permanent?

Results vary depending on skin and hair type. Studies have shown that many patients can achieve permanent hair reduction of up to 85-90% and remaining hair returns lighter and softer.

does my hair need to be “grown out” before the treatment?

No. We recommend that you shave the area to be treated. Waxing, bleaching, tweezing, threading or any other method that removes the root of the hair must be discontinued at least three weeks prior to treatment.

laser hair removal and pcos?

Interestingly, laser hair removal was first studied in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS affects hormone levels, which in turn can result in excessive hair growth. It’s important to remember that laser hair removal does not provide permanent hair removal for everyone. That said, laser treatments can be effective and can make a significant impact for individuals with PCOS. Because of the nature of PCOS, hair growth is harder to control. As a result, individuals with PCOS may require a greater number of laser treatments.
